De Stijl Poster Inspiration
De Stijl Issue #1 by Vilmos Huszar
Inspired by the cover design of the first Issue of De Stijl (a dutch journal propagating the views of the Neoplasticism design and art movement) I wanted to re create the poster while staying true to the core values of the movement: reduction to the essential forms simplifying visual composition into vertical and horizontals using only black, white, and the primary colors.
It was important to me to stay accurate to the original design style of De Stijl. As I was animating everything I slowly developed an understanding for what I wanted and on the third attempt I felt satisfied.
